Team 3038 Drive Train
This is our second year and we create a drive train that can pull and push a 120lbs man. If you like post comments, I will try to get more videos of it driving.

A better test of pushing power though is setting up a scale against a wall, placing your robot in front of it and then pushing forward until the wheels slip or the motors stall. That will give you a quantifiable thrust. What you showed in your video is that your robots thrust (weight x CoF) is more than the mans traction (weight x CoF) while on his butt ![]() ... But it is cool to see robots pulling people ![]() |

Re: Team 3038 Drive Train
Most robots will proboly weight 150 ish pounds and will be pushing back on you with as much or more force... Just saying.

Re: Team 3038 Drive Train
Back in 2003 (The challenge with totes) when the CIM were just starting out we had a robot that pulled a HD Truck with a larger trailer (Only 2 CIMS allowed). So these motors can pull quite a bit if geared right and there is enought traction.

Re: Team 3038 Drive Train
But they also had those 2 drill motors which I believe were more powerful than the CIMs.

Re: Team 3038 Drive Train
Yes those drill motors were pretty insane. Paired up with a CIM they easily pushed around 300lbs (weight of person + CoF) + when properly geared.

I'm not sure where you're getting 150. Anyways, pretty cool chassis; it's awesome to see it get that much strength, although as someone said, a wall-scale test would do best. |
