2010 Trenton New Jersey unbricking offer

Hello,

Team 41 had some problems with the CAN bus this year. We were able to reload the bootloader, and the version 87 firmware onto gray jaguar. We are willing to unbrick anyone's jaguar if they bring it to the competition and walk it over to our pit. Note we only unbricked a gray jaguar, but we will attempt a black jaguar. This will only work if the LED does not illuminate. If your smoked the jaguar, or melted the inside we cannot help you.

We would greatly appreciate if your bricked jaguar had a JTAG header already soldered in, as this could take some time. We bought http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...LFinUGOn I%3d (despite the wrong picture) and they are the correct headers. The manual calls for a 2x5 pin Header 1.27mm pitch.

See you at the competition.

Re: 2010 Trenton New Jersey unbricking offer

1075 smoked a black jag, and then replaced it with a grey one... partway through the night the grey one just stopped working. The light doesnt come on at all, no smoke was released, and the fuse audibly arcs when being plugged into the PDB. Could this be that? Or do you think this Jag is somehow toasted?

Edit: it was brand new out of the box, wired correctly, and working a few minutes before it wasnt. the black jag's smoke release was user-induced. the grey one... we're stumped.

Sure sounds like its a firmware issue. Same thing happened to us three times, Jaguar is fine one moment, next moment it just stops blinking with no explanation at all. We bought the JTAG programmer to fix it and we've recovered 3/3 Jaguars so far. Its certainly worth a shot. If you have someone good at soldering and you can put the header in it would make it easier for us, but if you can't we can do it for you and then try a reprogram it. No guarantees, but we will certainly try to fix it for you if you bring it.

Re: 2010 Trenton New Jersey unbricking offer

I would switch that breaker, it might be faulty if you hear it arcing inside. The jaguar could also be shorted internally, which is causing the breaker to over current, and thus trip. You might want to open the jaguar and check for metal shavings.

Here is what I would do if I were you. First isolate it so it is the only thing on the CAN bus. Do not forget your terminator. Now upload the firmware to any number, and hope it accepts it. If you are using the 2CAN and you get a timeout response, then it is truely bricked. If it is stuck in bootloader it would accept the upload. Power cycle to bring it back after.

If you use the black jaguar as your bridge, then I direct you here.

Don't worry, we are 5/5 (bricked/recovered) now after updating to 89.
