Bumper Rules?
We were not able to find 2 1/2 in pool noodles. We have been using 2 1/4 in foam pipe insulators. Does anyone know if that is OK? Also, we are confused about rule RO7L - joints between bumper sections and their radial projections of corners must be filled with soft bumper materials" Are they talking about that little square between the bumper and the frame that is left - see illustration on page 12 of the manual (section N)

As for the "radial projection of the corner", Figure 8-3 has what that should not look like. It needs to be filled with some form of pool noodle--either extend the two on the side into the corner, or place a vertical section in the corner and cover it. |

Re: Bumper Rules?
Well, I was going to say I've had luck with Canadian Tire bringing them in right around the end of build season... but that likely isn't going to help you much.
So maybe contact AndyMark http://www.andymark.biz/bumper.html And bring your bumpers as part of your withholding allowance. Better yet... ship the bumpers as they are, find some pool noodles next week, then reassemble you bumpers at the competition if you have to (doesn't hurt to check the Q&A, but I suspect the answer will be "a pool noodle is a pool noddle"). A few pool noodles won't take up much of your 65 pound withholding allowance, and if you've got one or two students ready to rebuild the bumpers and the noodles cut to length you should be done fairly quickly on Thursday morning. As for the "corners" bit... you can mitre the ends of the pool noodles (not the plywood) at 45 degrees, just as you would the corners of a picture frame. Jason |

Re: Bumper Rules?
I would NOT use pipe insulation as it doesn't have the cushioning effect that a pool noodle has.
We got out pool noodles, last week, at the local pool place. I'm not sure if Jackson Hole will have any in this early in the pool season ![]() |
