Robot resets on its own

We turn the code on and wait for everything to wait and connect properly and loads the code. Right after we enable and move the joysticks, the robot resets on its own. We checked all the wires and everything is correct.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it code or wiring?

What's your battery voltage at?

When you run your motors, your battery voltage actually drops. Normally this isn't a problem, but if the battery is already very low, it can drop so much that the 24V supply on the power distribution board cuts out.

Sounds like a wiring problem to me, put a voltmeter on the 24V input to the cRio and watch it while you duplicate the problem. Betcha it drops to less than 10 volts.

I'll bet a bag of donuts that one of your motors is either frozen (stalled) or the wiring is shorted. Check again with a bright light. Try pulling all the breakers to your motors and turn the power on. Move the joysticks. If the CRio does not reboot, insert one of the breakers and move again. This will show you where the problem lies.

My team faced a very similar problem a few days ago. When ever we moved the robot reset. We loaded the simplest code we could find (simple template example mode) and we found out it was not our code. You should try that.

If the problem happens only when you move, I would check and test your speed controllers. Ours reset because one of our jaguars was broken.

you should change your battery the cRIO will shut down when the voltage goes below 5V

My team also faced this problem this year, and we found that the main battery line was touching our chassis! This caused a short out when we traversed the bump.

After inspecting the battery lines, we found a hole the size of a pencil tip that was caused from friction poking a hole in the wire!

As if you havent already heard this enough, it is most likely an electrical problem. Either you are running a low voltage below 10volts, or there is a short between your batt. and ur electrical board. But is the entire cRio reseting? A locked up motor will blow the breaker, and there will be a 3 second delay for the breaker to reset, but this is only for the breakers controlling the motor, it shouldnt affect anything else on the robot.

But i will say again this reminds me of a low voltage issue; when you begin to drive the motors pull enough current to bring the voltage down low enough to cause the robot to briefly shut off.
