Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
I was just curious as to what some teams do on the way down to Atlanta. I know 2337 is planning on having a mini LAN party on their ~15 hour bus on the way down, along with much sleeping and listening to iPod. So, what do other teams do to pass the time?

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
We have a lot of DS parties on the bus, and also watch tons of movies.
Along with that we play numerous card games, tons of verbal puzzles, and of course I will be playing with my iPad ![]() |

An insane amount of sugar!
A LOT of movies, gossip, card games, with few strategy discussions here and there! ![]() |

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
Our team takes a 3ish hour bus ride from the school to NYC, and then a flight to ATL, so we don't usually get to bored, doing all the shifting around while we travel on Wednesday. However, our team usually has some LANs going, as well as some strategy and scouting sessions to get us pumped up for the competition. Maybe a sing-along here and there as well
We don't usually play movies, because everyone is either doing their own thing, or is doing something in a small group, and we don't bring a huge group of people to Atlanta anyway. Plus, our total travel time is only about 6 or 7 hours, and a good portion of that is the time after the bus arrives and before the plane leaves, sitting in the terminal. |

The obvious answer is to find a way to stop any alliance with 469.

Indiana Jones is always up there.

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
The most imporant thing to do on the way down to Atlanta: bathroom breaks!!!!
I'm all for bus rides to Atlanta, in fact, that's one of my favorite things about Competitions.. The Ride Down. ---- I'm one for entertaining during bus rides, in fact I tend to play a few "pysch" tests with some of my kids to see what kind of person they are, anyways. If you like pictionary, my advice is to look into Electronic Catch Phrase, it's like Taboo and Pictionary where you try to describe the word, a bit easier than Taboo, but still very fun. I enjoy making fun, or Dubbing movies on the way down, that's always fun. --- Story: my first year on the team (Junior year '05-'06) our bus broke down in north Carolina on the way down to the Peachtree regional. some sensor had gone haywire and would think the bus is overheating and shut off the bus every 30 minutes or so, so we'd have to go 35mph for the last leg of the trip. believe me it got on everyone's nerves, though we managed to not be at each others necks. Things we did included: making fun of "The Day After Tommorow." telling stories, and sleeping. |

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
I honestly think that movie is depressing... which results in me not wanting to watch it. What are some other people's opinions? For me, I honestly hope that our technological advancements never reach to the point of artificial life (but how do you define artificial life?)... but then again, Wright Brothers never thought we could cross the Atlantic Ocean in under 2 hours.

You can always have a conga-line. We did it last year.
![]() and yes, DS battles, homework, chat, listen to music, etc. all work for a 15 hour bus ride. I considered bringing a practice pad and a set of sticks. |

What's always fun to do is play a really long game of Green Glass Door or Air Crossword. I guarantee that those will keep you occupied for many hours

Re: Things to do on the way down to Atlanta?
I was going to suggest Green Glass Door, but a surprising people know what it is...it definitely kept my friends and I entertained for at least an hour or two last year on a 6 hour car ride.
