Announcing GIRL POWER INVITATIONAL 2010

What:
Team 433 the Firebirds is hosting their first off season event the Girl Power Invitational

Power stands for Preparing Outstanding Women Engineers through Robotics

It's a one day Event which spotslights the hardworking Girls of FIRST Robotics while competeing in an FRC Breakaway competition.

Who: First 18 teams to register by September 24th

Challenge:
Girl Power is open to all teams with one stipulation: We are asking that all drive teams and pit crews be comprised of female members of the team. Boys are welcome and encouraged to come and support their teammates in the stands.

Regular Registration ($150) is still open until September 24th at the latest.

we are also asking for the help of any firsters who would be willing to volunteer

Athena's Warriors (from ct) is most likely interested...we're not quite sure if we'll be done building for it since we're amping up our robot/rebuilding, but the appeal of the all girls even is very tempting...I'll bring this up again at our next meeting since registration ends soon...just wanted to let you know!

What an awesome event! Everyone had a great time at this ground-breaking event, which I hope remains on the Philadelphia area landscape for a long time! And the competition was tough!

Many thanks to the Firebirds for creating this event, and to Mount Saint Joseph Academy for hosting it. Thanks to Don Bowers and Nate Knauss for the leadership and MC'ing - Don will have a hard time topping that performance! Thanks to the speakers, Carol Kauffman and Patricia DePra, for bringing the message! Most amazing was to see the great turnout from parents, family, and friends whose support is so incredible. The gym was filled with energy the whole day! Special thanks to our alliance partners, MOE 365 and The Firebirds Team 433! Thanks to all the teams for making this event so special!!

Thanks to the Firebirds for hosting the first girlPOWER competition. This event was really awesome. It is a really great thing to watch the robots compete on the field, and then to look behind the player's station and see all female team members driving. For all the girls and teams that couldn't come this year, you should definitely start clearing your calendars for next year.

Thanks to all the volunteers, thanks to all the inspiring guests, and a special thanks to Duckie from 365 for coming over, saying "what can I do to help" and then being my super scorekeeper.

This year was great. I'm glad I got to be part of it. Next year should be even better.
