The back two wheels pivoted about the axis of the backmost wheel. This allowed the drivetrain to go over the bump by retracting the middle wheel, while behaving like a 6 wheel drop on flat ground. It could also climb on the platform by pushing the pivot wheel down so the robot was resting on the two hind wheels.
