cost to build a FIRST field

I am interested in a cost estimate for building a metal first field and a cost estimate for the "low cost" wood version. The wood field that we have been using for off-season events on the west coast is getting worn out so we are trying to understand costs for a replacement.

Does anyone have an estimate?

Eugene

Re: cost to build a FIRST field

I started a thread about building a wood field in September 2010

Lots of interesting points, best link was to the plans at AndyMark. Our estimate in 9/2010 was about $1200 for the materials, depending on quality.

Good luck

Re: cost to build a FIRST field

We build a field each year in Chicago for the kickoff for about $1000, so Foster is in the same ballpark. For our build, we balance between the high quality and cheaper components to spend about the same amount each year and it usually turns out nice. The quality is more about how much time you spend on building the field than anything else.

Re: cost to build a FIRST field

I think the OP asked for an estimate for a metal field as well...

That is correct. We are interested in an estimate for a metal field as well.

Re: cost to build a FIRST field

Wasn't there some talk of a low cost metal field version from FIRST a year or two ago? Something they were calling the "Delta Field"? IIRC it used mostly chain link fence pipe and pieces. Was there ever any more info or plans released for that? That might be a nice compromise between a wooden field and a full regulation metal one. Just a thought.
