converting 3ds Max meshes to solids?

converting 3ds Max meshes to solids?

I need to convert a 3ds Max file (mesh/surface model) to a solid model, to send it to a 3D printer.

I know Max can export an .STL file, but it's hollow, so the 3D printer can't use it.

Any suggestions?
