Classmate - Windows Not Activating
So, apparently our classmates are getting activation errors and claiming Windows is not genuine after reimaging. The systems are from the 2010 kit.
We're currently running tests to find out if the issue is with the network setup or an issue with the install. Error: Code:
0x8007232B Description: DNS name does not exist. UPDATED UPDATE: Tracert is getting to ntwk.msn.com and stops. Ping is timing out to www.microsoft.com. Is everyone imaging at once and crashing Microsoft's servers like they did to FIRST and CD today? ![]() UPDATED UPDATE OF UPDATEDNESS: Google can be pinged, and I can't ping Microsoft from home either. Looks like Microsoft is having a server outage. PING: Code:

Adding a reply so that people having the same problem see that this post has a reply and finds the solution.

Try doing what I did. It'll most likely fix the genuine windows problem. But to fix the other problem, try doing the whole process again. |

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
That's probably not going to help, because we can't even reach the activation server.

Edit: I just checked if my home computer is running on genuine windows, it works fine for me. May be it's your internet giving problems? Edit Edit: http://www.computing.net/answers/win...tes/89879.html Microsoft is most likely blocking your ping requests.. Last edited by PriyankP : 08-01-2011 at 21:48. |

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
I figured that with the ping requests. As for the verification, I was just wondering how many other people were having the problem and trying to provide as much info as I could to get the issue solved.

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
I just reimaged. First have you checked if all the drivers are installed after the reimage? lol mine weren't. second you should follow this instruction that was in the how to setup pdf. "Download the file “Classmate_Update.bat” from the 2011 FRC Control System website and copy it to the Desktop of the Classmate." It worked for me.

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
I reimaged the classmate to the 2011 image, installed the classmate update as per the instructions mentioned above, and then installed the driver station update. Sometime during that process the activation messages disappeared. If this doesn't work for you, let us know!

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
This is working just fine now, but we're low on disk space. I'm quite tempted to remove the recovery partition and add it to the Windows partition. Doing this over a net or USB-booted copy of linux should work alright.
EDIT: Yeah... netbooting is way too complex, and I don't have any flash drives large enough that I'm willing to wipe... any other ideas? Last edited by BrandonD-1528 : 10-01-2011 at 17:03. |

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
Actually I lied that software update didn't do junk lol I'm getting that DNS error too. I've already imaged it like twice. I have 26 more days to activate haha but I can't because of the DNS error.

Re: Classmate - Windows Not Activating
FIRST knows about the activation issue and is working on the solution.
