Re: 2011 image problems

I believe that the 2011 Imaging tool is found in the Utilities Software update. Once you install that, it can be found at Start>>All Programs>>LabVIEW 8.6>>FRC CRIO Imaging Tool.

I am having a problem of my own with imaging the CRIO.
When I try to reimage with the 2011_v25 image set for WindRiver code, I get these errors:
Quote:
Unable to complete operation because of unexpected error:
Error 63 occurred at TCP Open Connection in NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Open Session.vi->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Get Multiple Files and Buffers.vi->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Get File.vi->ConfigUtility.lvlib:OpenRemoteConfiguration.vi->ConfigUtility.lvlib:ReImageTarget.vi->ConfigUtility.lvlib:Dialog.vi

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW: Serial port receive buffer overflow.
=========================
LabVIEW: The network connection was refused by the server. For TCP/IP, make sure the server is running and listening on the port you are trying to use. Firewalls can also cause a server to refuse a connection. For VI Server, make sure you have enabled VI Server from Tools>>Options>>VI Server:Configuration.
Has anyone had similar problems, or an idea of how to solve this?

Re: 2011 image problems

The second explanation is the one to pay attention to.

Turn off firewalls, turn off any NICs not in use -- typically this means to turn off wireless and connect with a cable.

In some situations, it is more likely to succeed if the computer and cRIO are both connected through a router than a direct cable.

Why? Imaging the cRIO involves broadcasting to locate cRIOs, regardless of their IP. Then the laptop must communicate with the cRIO, set it to the correct mode, download the image, and the cRIO reboots. The cRIO now has a generic IP setting -- this used to be 0.0.0.0, but should now be DHCP. The computer must locate the generic cRIO and configure its networking, name, etc. Then it reboots again. In other words, it has many potential steps that can fail due to timing conditions with DHCP or broadcast mechanism. These include computer drivers, security settings, routing tables and NIC configurations, etc.

Please try the steps above or follow one of the trouble shooting lists available from NI.com/first in the support section.

Thanks, Greg. I turned off Windows Firewall and the wireless bridge, and was able to image the CRIO successfully.

Re: 2011 image problems

I'm having a similar problem as the first post in this forum. I can't find the image file (v25). I've downloaded the utlities update but the NI folder on the driver station doesn't contain labview 8.6 (which is where everyone says to look for the 2011 image file).

How do I get labview 8.6 on the driverstation? Thanks.

Re: 2011 image problems

LabVIEW needs to be installed from the DVD supplied in the KOP.
If you have a usb DVD reader, you can use that.
If you have a large (4GB or better) memory stick, you can copy the contents of the LabVIEW DVD onto that and install it from there.

Be sure afterwards to install the LabVIEW update, Utilities, and Driver Station update.

Re: 2011 image problems

We've put LabView 8.6 on the driver station but when we open the cRIO imaging tool there are no image files. Where can we find the 2011_v25 image files for the cRIO? Thanks.

You might try changing the position of the "No App" switch. I had a similar error last year after installing the CAN interface into the RIO when trying to install a new image. The only way I was able to do any debugging or deploy code for competition was to change the switch. Just remember to switch it back

When asking for help troubleshooting a problem, it's usually not helpful to use words like "everything". For example, if there were 5 steps, and you only knew about 4 of them, you'd say you did "everything" when in reality you didn't. In this case, listing the updates you installed would be helpful. If you did miss an update, you probably would have had an answer in an hour or two, rather then a day. Asking good questions takes time and practice, but saves time in the long run.

The imaging tool is installed in the FRC Tools & Utilities update. The image that the imaging tool uses is installed in the update for the language that you are using (LabVIEW, C++, or Java).

You have no image after installing the LabVIEW Update?
Or if you are using Java or C++, did you install the associated language update?

Each of the language specific updates contains the appropriate cRIO image file.
There is a different one for each of the programming environments.
