It looks nice and very clean. My guess is looking at all the links on the old version and just 4 on the new one they might be drop downs now?
I like the gradient in the background and the heading of the old version. Just my .02

Actually trying something a little different, I have a page that has links to all the team related pages via a picture linkbar, and doing the same thing with robotics and media

Your current site looks really good! The only thing I see that might be a problem(sorry I couldn't think of a better word!) for the viewer is that, unlike your previous site, the current one has one merged box for content(on the homepage), making it seem a bit crowded.
Just an observation but it looks great nonetheless
