ADXL345 Accelerometer sensor not responding

Trying to get the ADXL345 accelerometer sensor working in I2C mode. We've verified, checked, and double-checked the pinout as shown in the ADXL345 I2C Accelerometer.vi Data tracing through the VI shows the following error:

Error 44095 (paraphrasing) I2C sensor ID string did not match. Sensor address expected "58", instead, "Sensor did not respond."

Verified device address in ADXL345 I2C Read.vi is set to 0x3A. Checked every thread on this forum (as thoroughly as is possible without "and" functionality in the search window), but nothing addresses this issue under LabVIEW.

Suggestions?
