Are lights illegal?

We want to add lights to the (BOTTOM) of our robot. The rules say we can't "mess with opponent light sensors" or what have you. Would this be illegal?

Re: Are lights illegal?

It would depend on what lights you mounted and how they were mounted. A green cathode underglow that was partially hidden behind the frame and a diffuser panel might be legal, where an LED underglow that was under the frame facing outward with no diffuser might not be.

<R02> has the reasons that a given light might be illegal.

We're using the official green cathodes given to us. We're also having them behind the bumpers so they point only at the ground.

Re: Are lights illegal?

Oh, the old green cathodes from 2006-2007 vision targets. I miss those a bit...

Should be OK, subject to inspector's call at your event of course.

Re: Are lights illegal?

Do you think switching them out for blue and orange lights would present an issue?
