Re: multiple drivers

Your drive team for any one match consists of up to two drivers who are allowed to touch the controls, one human player who may touch the tubes and one coach who can't touch anything (the coach is also the only one not required to be a pre-college student).

Between matches you are free to change drivers and have different people drive in your next match, but it is not typically recommended. Your drivers will get better the more time they spend driving the 'bot and they'll get a lot more time if you stick with one set.

Re: multiple drivers

I agree with Kevin.

like he said, it's legal to change drivers between matches, but it's highly un-recommended. real time experience is both super important and at a shortage!

However, it is a good idea to train a second drive team to have at least a basic handling of the robot. you never know what might happen at the competition... might be the flu, might be bad food.. might even be pre-game jitters. it's good to have a backup.

Or it might be an unannounced trip to the Nike store. Our #1 driver once "disappeared" for an hour or two when he thought we had no chance of making the elimination rounds.

By the time he got back, we had played and been eliminated, and he knew a bit more about FRC tournament structure and had a MUCH deeper understanding of field trip ettiquite.

But thankfully we had a backup driver ready to go!

Jason
