2011 New York Regional

As one of the biggest regionals, New York draws many diverse and successful teams! 2265 cannot wait for the 2011 regional and to see who is returning!

(And as a mentor for 395 as well, 2Train cannot wait either!)

Roll Call!

Our team is bringing 32 people to the tournament, not including relatives from the area.
500 shell leis, several cases of macnut chocolates, 500 buttons, and bright red aloha shirts.
We have a special meeting next week, just to discuss clothing suggestions for the COLD!!

StuyPulse is coming back and we are excited to defend our title. Our new bot is one of our best and we will release it on the CD community soon enough. No one on the team can wait much longer to compete at Javits again.

Our blood is a little thinner. The kids start wearing jackets when it gets down to 70. Its the walk from the hotel to the Javits that I'm not looking forward to.

It'll be Spring Break- the weather should get better by then! Projected temperatures in the 60s and 70s as of now, so sweaters and light jackets should be fine!

Re: 2011 New York Regional

Though we've already seen all but one day of the regional, I thought it would be fun to attempt to predict the outcome anyway. Understand that this is not taking into account the teams' current positions in the standings. Good luck to all teams tomorrow. The regional is going really well. I know that I am having a blast.

Some members of Team 1676, the Pascack Pi-oneers, went down to NYC for the day, and were very impressed with the regional! Congrats to 395 and their alliance, we were rooting for you! You were very kind and we can't wait to see you in St. Louis!

Team 1626 would like to congratulate First teams 395, 359 and 527 on their victory and 359 for their Chairman's Award. Hawaii Kids were a class act throughout the weekend. It was a pleasure meeting you and competing against you. Your macadamia nuts were also terrific! Safe home guys and Good Luck at Nationals!

Re: 2011 New York Regional

I don't know if anyone noticed it yet, but the Popular Mechanics website has an article on the NYC Regional. Several teams are mentioned in the text, and there is a nice picture of us (1279), our excellent alliance partners 1989 and 2070, and worthy quarterfinal opponents 555, 870, and 1626. The article is here
<http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/engineering/robots/the-best-high-school-robot-builders-meet-in-new-york-citys-first-competition?click=pp>
and a largeer picture is on the front page slide show.

Re: 2011 New York Regional

Team 395 would like to thank all the teams who have competed in the NYC Regional and a special to our alliance partners. And we will be consistent game play in Phila as we prepare. Xcellent game.
