I Need Help with downloading Basic Stamp Program

Posted by Joseph, Other on team #252, Bay Bombers, from Broadway High School and NASA.

I have modified the Basic Stamp program that comes with
the control box. When I use the command to send the
file alt R I keep getting the message.
"Hardware not found"
I have tried to down load the
program with two different PC's using the COM port.
Initially I used the standard file transfer cable
provided with the PC's. I also built a cable based on
spec's provided on the First SW floopy that came with
the kit. I am using Stamp2. I have gone through and
checked the device drivers and COM systems and am fairly
sure that both PC's are operating correctly. I have used
the COM port on one the the pc's before with no problem.
I really need help. Please alpha page me if you have
any ideas.

I can think of a few things you might try.

1. You may have the reciever box still in the default program mode. You
need to switch to User Program mode. This is done by flipping one of
the switches on the 4 switch DIP, next to the programming port. As
per the FIRST manual, you need to flip switch 2 down and switches
1,3,4 up (see page 26 of the "The Robot" section).

2. Check that +5V is getting to the Stamp2. You can check this by
plugging in logic power, then check that all the amber lights are on.
If not then you might have a blown +5V fuse.

3. Use the 9pin cable provided in the First kit.

Another thing to check is that software is accessing the same serial port you have the cable connected to.
