Jailbroken iphone
So I did a search and couldn't find anything on this on CD, but I wanted to know if anyone on the forums have jailbroken their iPhone?
If so what are the benefits aside from customization? Are there other apps that make it worth it? I'm still on the fence about doing it and wanted to hear others' take on it. |

Re: Jailbroken iphone
I've done it and haven't encountered any issues yet. SBSetting Toggles are very useful. If I double tap (you can customize the trigger) the status bar at the top of the screen, a menu appears with a bunch of toggle buttons for things like 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc. It's a lot more convenient than navigating through 3+ menus. There are also apps that achieve some buggy Flash support, but I rarely actually use them. They do cause Flash files NOT to be downloaded until you click on a placeholder, which might help with page load speeds.

Re: Jailbroken iphone
JVN jailbroke his iPhone 4 last year.
I thought about doing it to mine; but I subscribe to the philosophy that it's not a matter of IF something will be hacked, but WHEN it will be hacked. For something as personal as a phone, I'd rather stay in the thorny garden of Apple-y bliss (for the time being). When I swap phones, I'll probably jailbreak it just so I can get Java on it and use it as a dev platform for displays on a handheld device. |
