Summer Road Trip

I'm interested in taking a road trip and visiting/interviewing as many FIRST teams as I can asking what FIRST means to them. I would also ask the mentors what advice they would give to new mentors and teams. I would blog the whole adventure, advice, and interviews. I wanted to see if there's an interest in the idea. I would love to hear you thoughts on it.

Re: Summer Road Trip

Just a suggestion:
You could have this road trip end at the Indiana Robotics Invitational. There are hundreds of students and mentors in attendance (Most, if not all, love FIRST!), you're bound to get some good interviews many esteemed mentors!

Re: Summer Road Trip

I will definitely go to the Indiana Robotics Invitational. I'm not sure where all the stops will be. Part of it I also wanna see the sights and see the different teams and how they work in their own workshops. Depending on how it goes I would be interested to do a follow up at the IRI.

If you get anyway near the Kansas City area, I would gladly contribute and I'm sure we would allow you to observe one of our summer meetings.

Re: Summer Road Trip

If you could make it, we would love to show a fellow FIRSTer around Sydney. It will only take you 55 days by car according to Google Maps!

(Or, if you prefer walking, it will take you 184 days!!!)

Re: Summer Road Trip

Come visit Austin. We've got some good things happening this summer, including the new off-season that will be hosted at Anderson High School. We'd love to have you. And... Austin, itself, is a fun place to visit!

Darn I see 1802 beat me to it. Anyhow, if you're in the Kansas City area, Metal Mustang Robotics would love to show you around our facility and tell you how much FIRST means to us. Good luck on your road trip (Hope you don't mind if you get to a stop after Kansas and find a few MMR kids in your trunk! )

Re: Summer Road Trip

I would definatly reccomend you take a trip up to New England. This is in my (heavily biased) opinon one of the best places for FIRST.

All kidding aside, New England is a cool place for FIRST. We may not have IRI, but many would say that we have one of the best series of off-season events in the country.

If your up in Central CT, I'm sure one of the teams up here would be more then willing to show you around. Like I said though, visiting a team and then going to one of our off-seasons is a great way to experience FIRST in New England.

Remember to fit Michigan into that trip somewhere. I'm sure you could find plenty of willing teams anywhere you go.
