Hello,
I believe if you shut down the classmate, reboot it with the thumb drive plugged in, and press f12 (repeatedly if you like), than you will then be ready to image the computer. Select the USB drive and go from there. Hope this helps.

Re: Need help with reimaging!!!!!!

Hi all, I'm having what might be the same problem, I don't know, but I get the same message.
I put the usb flash drive on the powered down class mate from 09, and turn it on, press F11, choose the flash drive to boot from, and after a few moments it asks if it's ok to format the HD, press enter.

IT then extracts many files and finally gets to trying to put file 3c314c.msi on and comes up with error 23, it tries again, fails, and says...
"error restoring image"
data error (cyclic redundancy check).

error please contact CTL for support
Press any key to continue...

Any ideas on this? I've tried this perhaps 5 times all with the same error. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a dud file on the flash drive?

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions,

Mike

Re: Need help with reimaging!!!!!!

Many people are having similar errors, including myself. My suggestion is to find an alternative laptop if you can for now. I feel like FIRST is going to need to send out an update for the flash drives and will need to ensure the images are not corrupt.

Re: Need help with reimaging!!!!!!

I am having a minor issue after re-imaging from the 2010 classmate. My driver account is not being automatically opened when I reboot the machine. Not a major issue, but is there a workaround?

They just aren't setup to auto-login anymore.

If you want it to do this:
  1. Login to the Developer account
  2. Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt
  3. In the popup window type: control userpasswords2
  4. Another popup (User Accounts)
  5. Click on the Driver account
  6. Unclick "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
  7. Click OK
