Re: FRC LabVIEW install

I'll still getting errors too and when I try to install NI-VISA 4.1 I get Unsupported version of NI-VISA detected.

Re: FRC LabVIEW install

I am also having a problem. I install Labview and everything appears to work, but when i start Labview it is not FRC edition, and I cannot access the WPI robotics library or the default templates. It appears to me that the FRC Tools are not installing so I try reinstalling them and the re-installation does not work. It cites no error and does not inform me of the failure until the very last step, where it presents the installation report, and tells me that "no software was installed" under any of the categories. I looked in the NI Uninstall/Or Modify application and it shows the FIRST Utilities as an uninstallable option. Has anyone else encountered and error like this? Or does anyone have any advice? I have run the install several times now, and i have completely uninstall-ed everything and started from scratch multiple times.

Computer Specs:
Dell with Winodows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
2 Core Pentium with 2.76 GHz
8 GB of RAM

Re: FRC LabVIEW install

It seems like your problem is that you need to install the LabVIEW updates, and the FRC 2011 Utilities.

I found a solution to my problem (and artbot's) though:
In the registry, there was a key marking that NI-VISA 3.2 (!!) was installed. I have never had NI-VISA installed before, and I dont know where this came from. It was in HKLM\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\NI-VISA. There was a value named "CurrentVersion", which had its value set to 3.2. I uninstalled all of LabVIEW, removed all of the contents of the key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\National Instruments", reinstalled and it worked.

Re: FRC LabVIEW install

You are right SIR! Installing the Labview updates cured four separate computers of mine from being unable to recognize the FRC Utilities. I guess the two computers it worked on without the updates were flukes. It seems like the update really does resolve a lot of problems and should be installed whether you think your original install went correctly or not. Thanks for the help!

Re: FRC LabVIEW install

How do I get to: "HKLM\SOFTWARE\National Instruments"? I did a C drive search and it did not find any folder named "HKLM".

It's not in the filesystem. It's in the registry. You use the registry editor program to work with things in it. But if you don't know what you're doing, it's not a good idea to go messing with the registry. You can render your computer unusable if you do something wrong.

Re: FRC LabVIEW install

You will want to use Run (or the start menu on Vista/win7, or cmd if you really want to) to run regedit, but be super careful not to mess anything up, and doing a backup of your computer and/or the registry before you do anything is a good idea.
