Thumbs up Spreading the message

Hey this is my first year joining the team, can anyone recommend some innovative methods to spread the message of our robotics team across?

Depends where you are spreading the message. If you are spreading the message across a cake, you might try a steady hand. If you are spreading the message across the community that your team is a part of, there are all sorts of options, depending on the nature of the community you are focused on: school, town, city, state, region... what have you got in mind?

Re: Spreading the message

Across...the school? The district? The county? The world? You're a little vague there =P

Now I'm sure our team's not quite as effective as we could be, but what we've taken to doing recently is try to appear at a lot of district events. Whether it be the "harvest festival" in October, the "santa breakfast" near Christmas or just general schoolwide events, we've been selling food and setting up whatever we can. One of our bigger things for visibility has been a quickly thrown together test bot in a small area that we set up in the cafeteria when we're serving food. People see the robot, see the team shirts (the safety green doesn't hurt there) and figure out what's going on. It's also a decent source of money since we don't have a big sponsor.

Re: Spreading the message

I am not sure if your school does this but our school does video announcements 2x a week and right around this time of year our team has a couple of videos we play, some of the robot and we play the game video. Were also in our towns winter and 4th of July parade, and we have a spot at our 4th of July midway. We also occasionally have a video or 2 on our towns public broadcast channels. In addtion to this we do demos at our towns other schools. These are all the ways i know of that our team spreads the message of first to our community, just some ideas to think about.

Re: Spreading the message

It sounds like you're new to this. Might I suggest that you try a traditional method before looking to others for an innovative one? Or, if you're set on coming up with novel ways to advertise, it could be helpful for you to think of one yourself without getting influenced by established ideas.

Re: Spreading the message

Facebook. I would say majority of the students in any given highschool in America has a facebook. Perfect way to announce meetings and stuff.
