Re: Minibot - aluminium
My team was thinking about doing the same thing. I'm pretty sure you can <R92-H> seems to allow it. I think you can even make your custom parts out of solid aluminum bar.
<R92-H> Raw aluminum sheet, 90° angle, u-channel, tube, bar, that is not sold in preperforated or pre-punched form. |

Re: Minibot - aluminium
my team members said that if we were allowed to used custom aluminium parts then they wouldn't have specified the types of aluminium parts we can use.
like they have mentioned U-channel, bar, etc.. |

Re: Minibot - aluminium
Yes, as long as it has no premade holes and perforations in it.

Re: Minibot - aluminium
It was a completely serious answer - some aluminium has pre drilled holes in it for various things, and it's worth noting those aren't legal.
I honestly wasn't even thinking of the particular part and company I would be bitter about - I just know I've seen C-channel at stores with some holes already in it and that's not legal. |

Re: Minibot - aluminium
The ruling also makes AndyMark kitbot parts illegal too. I bet at least one team at every regional shows up in violation of this.

Re: Minibot - aluminium
This was discussed over lunch today, and we came to the same conclusion, that we can use aluminum parts as long as we use items with no pre-drilled holes. But I have another concern (it's probably an obvious answer, but I'm going to ask to be absolutely sure). Can we modify the minibot KoP items? Like cutting the c-channel for example. I would guess we are allowed to considerring the fact that two of the c-channel sections are longer than 12".

Re: Minibot - aluminium
You are indeed allowed to alter, cut, bend any legal metal or plastic materials you are using on the minibot...Tetrix items are legal, therefore ok to modify. Just don't modify the motor or battery.
