SUPER SHIFTER

Hello fellow firsters, I was inquiring about a problem we have encountered with the super shifters. These super shifters are the gearboxes ordered from AndyMark.com. (http://www.andymark.com/ProductDetai...ctCode=AM-0114) Putting everything together was pretty easy but it seems that there is no built in way to mount the shifter to the robot, and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on how we should go about doing this!
Thanks,
Paul D.

Re: SUPER SHIFTER

our teams is using the same gearbox, and we are going to have a custom piece made for the gearbox. You can also use the C-bases connector, from the 2010 kitbot.

Re: SUPER SHIFTER

My team also uses super shifters. We just use the same bolts that hold the box together to mount it to the drive base. We typically make our drive base out of C channel that is the same height as the super shifters and get it machined so it all fits nicely.

Re: SUPER SHIFTER

Use these two mounting brackets to mount the super shifters to the base, you install the SS the same way as a regular tough box.

Brace-http://www.andymark.com/productdetails.asp?productcode=am-0203
WARNING these do NOT come with hardware so you have to use your own or by some at a home depot or lowes.

Re: SUPER SHIFTER

We've replaced 2 of the bolts that hold together the gearbox with longer 1/4-20 bolts that also go through mounts to the drive train.

I'd recommend you keep the black shroud on the SS if this is your first time mounting it -- doing so will ensure your gearbox doesn't bind if you don't fully support it properly.

Re: SUPER SHIFTER

I referenced AM's Pre-Setup Super Shifter Chassis which is based on the C-Base and they use the Brackets below for mounting.

Here is the setup I referenced so you can see the parts in place: http://www.andymark.com/ProductDetai...ctCode=am-0484
