"Plexiglas and polycarbonate (Lexan): any thickness to ¼ inch" are allowed; we never addressed the color aspect and we have always treated acrylic sheets in this same category (isn't plexiglas just a trade name for one manufacturer of acrylic sheeting?) I say go for it. If Martus and the rest of the committee later say no, I'll deny I ever said this.

Color of Plastic

Color is of no real advantage so it makes no difference.

Just makes your robot look cooler. And that is a good thing.
