Converter / Convertor outputting 12V instead of 5V

Our problem now is that, the camera could have been fried, but we cannot set up our camera without the converter, we did not look at the power distribution sheet and now we are trying to get the camera working, I think we put 12volts inside the camera and fried it.. but the converter should have converted it to 5 volts.

We cannot set up our camera electrically, we cannot get a connection using the crossover cable. We are not sure what to do....is our camera fried? If so.. our router could be soon...
