Until you said that, it sounded like the wireless network adapter on your Classmate might be broken or misconfigured. Now it just sounds like you're not paying attention to what you're saying.

Let's start at the beginning. If you've reimaged your Classmate and applied the Driver Station update, you should be able to log on as the Driver and set your team number. That will set the IP address appropriately, and if the D-Link is properly configured and powered up, you should be able to connect to it without extra effort.

Did you reimage your Classmate and apply the Driver Station update?

The OP states

The classmate is also configured to 10.16.33.5 (in local area connection though not sure if i need to change that to wireless connection).
Yes, you need to make sure the wireless connection is set to a proper IP address (either manually or by the Driver Station software) and enabled.

Right click on the wireless adapter, properties, IPV4, properties. Click on "Use this IP Address" and enter something like 10.16.33.7. Set the subnet mask to 255.0.0.0 click OK to get out.

We've had luck by right clicking the wireless adapter and selecting "Connect/Disconnet network". Connect to the DLINK, it should have an ID of 1633 if you followed the instructions correctly. It might prompt for a WPA key, in that case enter the WPA key you entered during the DLINK setup, if you used the default setting in the instructions it would be 1633WPAKEY.

Hope that helps

If you didn't boot from the USB flash drive that came in the Kit of Parts, and if you didn't wait through about twenty minutes of reformatting and copying of files, and if you didn't get asked to create a new user name, and if you didn't find the Classmate nagging you about activating your copy of Windows 7...

...you haven't actually re-imaged the Classmate.

Go to the Kit of Parts web page and follow the instructions in How to Set Up Your 2011 Driver Station (updated 1/11/11). If you intend to install LabVIEW or other programming environments on the Classmate, make sure you first read and follow the Classmate Drive Space Recovery Procedure (NEW 1/11/11).
