Minibot Deployment

Alright, so we have been brainstroming on the actrual minibot deployment method for a couple of hours now. We have several "good" ideas, however, none seems to have it all. I understand that there's usually a trade-off, but not a single design pops out. any ideas?

Re: Minibot Deployment

in reality several teams are just gonna keep it simple using just drawer slides to push it out because its not so much of the deployment that matters but the speed of the minibot to reach the top =]

I disagree. If you have 4 minibots on the field that have similar speeds, deployment could very well make the difference.

Every minibot has the same motors and power source, if properly designed many minibots will have very similar climb times.

OP:

Our team has been brain-storming too, I think one of the fastest ways is with a piston to push the minibot out. The trick is releasing it from the piston, which we haven't figured out yet

I very much agree. Minibots power sources are all the same, deployment is where the game will be lost or won.

I agree that deployment matters, however who said that we will all have the same power source? who said we have to use a motor at all? there are many ways to make something move mechanically, you just got to find them and apply them.

The GDC did.

Re: Minibot Deployment

I said that we all have the same power source and motor(s). Eagle covered it.

Re: Minibot Deployment

<G19> has drastically changed some things. Deployment will give the advantage. Also the mass and friction against surface area will have to be at perfect set amounts to achieve the fastest minibot. back to the drawing board.

Re: Minibot Deployment

I see a lot of people saying G19 has changed a bunch. What has changed I mean they have clarified a bit. I think a combo of accuracy and speed and you will be fine. NO??
