Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Yeah we're going to lose this week most likely due to this storm. 20inches in a rural area just sucks.

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Heck, 20 inches at once in an urban area (where that's twice what they're prepared for) is going to shut things down for a while.

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
To us this is a blessing! The team doesnt have to go to school and I dont have to go to work so we get at least 24 hrs straight to get as much done as we can. Bring on the white stuff!

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
I'm not exactly excited about losing a meeting to 30 inches of snow - especially because I personally only get two meetings a week and this cuts one of them

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
We are also looking at losing tomorrow afternoon (after school activities canceled) as well as Wednesday due to the storm.

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
We were sent home early tonight and the rest of the week looks bad. Loosing week four is gonna suck big time. I'm so glad we are not doing a week one regional this year,

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Last year, we didn't lose too much to the snow, as the major snowstorms of the year dumped between Christmas and the week before kickoff.
This year, we haven't been so lucky. We've had about a week of snow days since build season has begun, and we're getting "Snowpocalypse" tomorrow that will wipe out even more days of the build season. That being said, I'm glad the snow is coming now instead of week 6. |

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Luckily, when the big snow storm hits us we really only have a chance for a snowday on the only schoolday we don't build, wednesday.

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Given the time Banebots has already cost us, what's a little snow?

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
We'll see how things go here. I had 2-3 inches on the ground at home this morning with 12-24 more on the way this afternoon.

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
My team has missed multiple meetings due to snow, and I predict we'll lose another tomorrow
. This isn't going to be fun. But on the bright side, it allows mentors and all of the kids to take a well deserved rest and re-think designs.Dave, GUS 228, team228.org |

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
We've lost four days so far, and will probably lose another two this week alone. The only good thing is that we're waiting for the final parts to arrive and it's given us valuable time to work over the CAD designs. Since we can't get into the school with the snow, we've resorted to having the three "all-star" machinist on the team take a plow truck and go to the engineering shop of our fantastically generous engineer and mentor. I must say the sight of a bunch of nerds getting in a big truck with robot parts and riding out into the storm must be pretty funny. At least it's only week four.

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Not liking this storm after storm routine. With Week "0" scrimmage coming up in 2.5 weeks, I hope this doesn't continue. Not only does our team have to build a robot, it has to prepare for the Scrimmage......fun is!

Re: Mother Nature and the 6 weeks
Our team has lost 4 days as of now because even though we had school today after school activities were canceled so we could not meet, we've lost 15 hrs of build time and only made up 3 hours so far. And because were definitely not having school tomorrow we've lost 5 days now and a total of 18 build hours. There's also the possibility that we'll have no school on Thursday as well which would bring the total to 6 days and 21 build hours lost to snow.
