Correct. The requirements are not mutually exclusive.

You will notice that the maximum dimension for a segment is as long as the robot's longest horizontal dimension plus a little for soft stuff to protect the corners.

You can have as many or as few 6" or larger segments on a side as you like. But you must have 100% coverage.

meaning you can't have a side shorter than 6 inches in length. R<7> D in no way changes R<7> A. Your robot needs to meet both requirements.
