My Team's Scouting Sheet

It may sound weird but i want critiques this please. I have worked on it for a while and only half way done. Also I do not care if you use the idea of the scouting sheet but please do not use it as is.

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

I personally would advise against having a field for Line Tracker due to autonomous mode challenge's nature allowing it to be solved without a line tracker. Fast should not be considered in Match Scoring, rather it should be in Basic. Having uber-tube pop up twice will give it an unnecessary weight and imbalance in your ranking system.

I will say your scouting sheet requires too many calculations if you don't have another spreadsheet file to store all the scouters' information. Almost all information columns I see require calculations from looking at scouting sheets for a single team from multiple matches.

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

This is not for the actual match... well i did not intend on that. Ignore the points system for not I forgot to delete it. The purpose is pre matches. This is for scouters to go around to all the teams and see what they have then you put it on the spread sheet. On the main one you can the the basic outline of all the teams to see who has what

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

Just remember that what a team says they can do, does not mean how well they can do it. There will be teams that say they can score tubes but may only score 1 all event while others will say they can and scored 5 a match. Big difference. There is no substitute for actually watching the matches.

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

Along those lines - never ask teams to "rate their scoring ability". How are you supposed to answer that?

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

There's a few things I would have you consider:

You might consider making this a word document instead of an excel. It will take up more space, but you can organize it rather effectively.

With that in mind:

-Strategy for Auto, tele-op, and end game. It's really useful to know what their plan of attack is in these games.
-Claw is a little vague, might change that to "end effector" or some such. Add a little room for a response, as there might be some interesting things to mention, and you never know what teams may come up with.
-Consider adding drive train as a section. This can be useful as well for making some strategic choices.
-You can probably leave uber-tube to match scouting, as you will more reliably find out from what happens rather then what they tell you.

This is the scouting sheet I made up for the FTC game, as an example of how we organize ours a bit. You don't need too much, but providing enough space for each response can be useful if they have any interesting ideas. The rest, you can usually leave to match scouting.

As a side note, the jargon is called pit scouting Good luck!

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

Never ask another team to rate themselves. Whenever someone asks me "how well does your robot do this" I always answer with 5/5. What you should ask is not how well it does it, but how it does it. Then you can infer how it does it, while learning at the same time! Plus, they might actually explain what parts of it don't work if you get an in depth enough explanation...

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

My team was originally going to do paperwork this year for scouting, but then had a meeting with the drive team. They said to us along the lines of "Well in all honesty, if you give us papers to look at we are not going to read it." So we asked them how can we work together to have an effective team?

This is what we came up with:

1) Do a large majority of scouting on the thursday of competition, after teams are set up. Scout teams and take a picture of the bot.

2) After all teams have been 1st round scouted on thursday, have a meeting with the drive team and go over every team and bot.

3) Have constant communication with the drive team and scouting by having walkie talkies on (permitting they allow us to wear them in the pits).

4) DO NOT get in the way of the drive team if something is happening in the pit. Another robot is the last thing they need to worry about if something goes wrong (which it shouldn't )

Good luck to you all!

Re: My Team's Scouting Sheet

No walkie talkies are allowed in the pits

And I'm a programmer a driver and sometimes a scouted that is why I made a BASIC scout sheet
