If you're able to use a hardwire connection, but the same settings don't work over wireless, I'd start to suspect you either didn't set the radio band properly (for 99% of computers, you'll need 2.4GHz mode) and/or you've enabled some kind of MAC filter on the wireless access by accident.
Can you actually see the wireless access point? Try changing the name a few times and make sure the computer sees the different network SSIDs to confirm you're in the right radio band.
