Above and beyond the call of duty

For any team the end of week five and the beginning of week six is an extremely important time. The parts you ordered four weeks ago are showing up, the prototyping and testing is just about done, the frames are starting to show up from the paint booth, and the programmers are starting to build up a tolerance to Mountain Dew. All you want to do is get the team together and lock the doors and complete the build. But not team 456. Team 3468 was in trouble. A rookie team that was very frustrated. When they signed up for First, they needed a mentor that didn’t materialize. They were having no luck finding local businesses, local universities, and engineering support. A frantic email was sent to the First Regional Director for a cry for help. Two phone calls later Team 456 volunteered to help. On the next to last day of week five ,Team 3468 brought their kit of part and there whole team to Vicksburg to get help. Stopping what they were doing Team 456 jumped in to action and helped the West Monroe Team go from kick off to week 6 in one day. The frame was assembled; the electronic board was fabricated and installed. A quick brain storming session and a respectable scoring robot was designed and built. In my opinion this is Gracious Professionalism at its best. I’m proud to have been a part of this important event. My hats off to Chuck Dickerson and Team 456 for going above and beyond the call of duty.
