Re: pic: Bumpers

Pretty! Nice job.

But, I hate to be a pain, but the Inspector in me says at first glance the numbers do not meet the 3/4 stroke width. Am I wrong?

<R09> Teams shall display their team number on the BUMPERS in four locations at approximately 90° intervals around the perimeter of the ROBOT. The numerals must be at least 4” high, at least in ¾” stroke width and in a contrasting color from its background.

Re: pic: Bumpers

Interesting about the 3/4" rule...it appears that the background showing thru on the 6 and 9 does indeed meet the rule. Yet it's the background.....

I just looked at that (thank you for the warning) and saw that at the thicker points the numbers are indeed at around 3/4". The I don't think that the thinner parts should make these bumbers illeagal, largely because in the privous years we have had numbers on the bumpers that are thinner and harder to see and "got away with it"

The GDC always says that a ruling in past years means nothing this year. Even if it's the same exact rule..

Or if you mean you broke the rule and got away with it.. Quit breaking rules!

Unfortunately, my gut tells me that the 3/4" stroke means uniform all of the way around the numerals...Maybe you could post on the FAQ for clarification, but you might want to have a second set with a font that you are SURE will comply with the rules.

There is a new lead robot inspector at the LA regional this year, so you might not be able to get away with things that were marginal in the past. Your bumpers numbers last year were definitely not readable from 100 ft. These do look more readable then last year, however.
