Beach Cities Robotics is Awarded a KPCB Mentor Grant


Beach Cities Robotics Team 294 (www.bcrobotics.org), as the veteran mentor
for rookie Santa Monica High School Team 1115, has been awarded a KPCB
(Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers) Mentor Grant for the FIRST (For
Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology www.usfirst.org )
Robotics 2003 season. This grant is worth $2,000 - meaning the team will
have $2,000 applied to their 2003 registration fees.

Beach Cities Robotics Team 294 is thrilled to pass on their experience to
help ensure that a new rookie team will have a positive and successful first
year. Team 1115 has applied for a $6,000 NASA grant to fund their first
year.

Beach Cities Robotics Team 294 is ready to mentor other new teams from local
public or private high schools who sign up to participate in FIRST's 2003
season. Event registration is open from October 1, 2002 through December
13, 2002. The deadline for rookie teams to apply for a $6,000 NASA grant
is Friday, November 8, 2002. Call 310-944-9334 for more details.
