Go to Post In my opinion, the hardest part of the competition is not that actual manufacture of the robot, but the design process. It is the enginners that go through the design process all the time that will have the edge in this competition, not the best machinist. - Wetzel [more]

I think the deadline was sufficiently announced, and just to be sure FIRST sent an e-mail blast to Teams and registered mentors on Feb 15th highlighting the new times in yellow. We are just so used to things not changing from year to year, that we have a tendency to overlook the details when changes are made.

That said - Hey Iron Lancers! I think this is a great idea and I love your award banner! We got our website submitted on time, but I look forward to hearing the announcement of your website winner (is that then the biggest loser?)!

It was indeed sufficiently announced -- this was a mistake on the part of teams, not at all on the part of FIRST.

Indeed, the word NOON shows up in bold at least once, and everything is clearly and consistently marked AM.

We're just dumber than we think we are sometimes.

Re: Did you miss the submission date? Then this is for you...

Thank you all for your support and your comments regarding this issue. FIRST in no way was getting blamed for this mistake. I think every one just got caught up in the actual building of the robot, the creating of the website and all the work and effort that it takes to participate in these major awards that minor details such as the time was over looked. Not so minor of a mistake however! LOL

Hope to see more great websites coming through to this competition. So if you missed the deadline don't miss out on your chance to shine. There are still a great deal of people that would still very much like to see your sites and all the hard work you all put into them. So keep submitting!

And yes some times the biggest losers make the biggest winners!!!

We'll do that the same day we ship our robot a day early.

(actually, we're shipping the robot today...)

Re: Did you miss the submission date? Then this is for you...

If students were supposed to submit stuff, how are the going to do it at school? I understand getting it in early but we all aren't perfect.

Thankfully one of our students was able to get it in.

Re: Did you miss the submission date? Then this is for you...

I questioned that as well. I guess the idea was to get it in at least the night before and if possible days before. But like you said not every is perfect...

Re: Did you miss the submission date? Then this is for you...

Really unfortunate. I personally dont think it was sufficiently announced, but I am just being bitter. We should have submitted a day early anyways. Thats what we get for submitting last minute.

But our contest should be fun. Any more people interested in submitting then post in here!

Team 1710 missed the deadline too this year. Great way to end senior year =), at least they now have a great basis for next year.
