Re: Problem with wireless
Hello, I'm from team 1939. We have had the same problem this year and I was wondering if anyone could clarify the network setup that I will crudely try to recreate
Is it cRio-->dlink (new router)---->Classmate---->driver station software Or is it. cRio-->dlink (new router)--->old router ( configured for last year)----> then so on |

Re: Problem with wireless
This is sort off topic but does anyone know where I can get the power connectors for the window motors. Or will I have to make them? Plus (This is where I need a lot of responses) Is a victor or a jaguar recommended.

Re: Problem with wireless
We bought connectors specifically intended for the window motors, but I have no idea where we got them. There have been reports of jaguars and window motors not mixing well, and admittedly we have had issues with our forklift motor, so I'd try the jags, but don't be surprised if you switch to a victor quickly.
As I understand it, if you don't need the anti-back drive functionality on the window motors (which we do, other wise our forklift would slowly come back to earth) you can remove the locking pins, a process which is described somewhere else. In theory, it will play more nicely with the jaguars then. |

Re: Problem with wireless
Mainly I think your should redo the setup because it sounds like something is going on in there. also your addressing on the computer from what I can tell its correct but just to be safe. also are you using a crossover or strait when connecting to the router. Im not sure if the Dlink has auto sensing where it doesnt matter but that also could be it.

Re: Problem with wireless
So the order is this? > cRio-->dlink (new router)---->Classmate & driver station software?
That would mean that we have to use the computers wi-fi to connect to the dlink? And since classmate doesnt have the capabilities they have the new thing that they give at the competetion. So do we basically just follow the manual to install the new router and then go to the computers wireless communication and connect, without the gaming adapter? |

Re: Problem with wireless
Kinda going back to the original topic, I think I have found the problem. When I tried pinging the cRIO, no response. Same when pinging the router. But when I checked the ipconfig on cmd, I found that my computer was using ipV6 by default on that connection, and it wasn't overriding with ipV4. I'm gonna check that tomorrow (kinda cutting it close) but I think that may be the solution.

At competition (not at home)... You will take your DLink to a special WPA kiosk to make the event specific settings. These include setting the switch on the back to Bridge mode, resetting the DLink, hooking it up to the WPA kiosk, and the kiosk will supply a WPA security key unique to each team. When you return home you will return your DLink to AP mode and remove the WPA security set at competition. Last year's gaming adaptor is not legal for game play in 2011. At the event for your match, you will plug your driver station laptop into an ethernet cable at the player station. The Driver Station application will link up with the Field Management System (FMS), and through a VPN unique to your team the field router ill connect to your robot. |
