Re: Rookie Question

I don't necessarily disagree with Mike... I'd probably pass it, too. BUT that doesn't mean that other inspectors, seeing it in person would.

In the blue text beneath R04 it reads "Reasonable efforts must be taken to remove, mitigate, or shield any sharp edges, pinch points, entanglement hazards, projectiles, extreme visual/audio emitters, etc. from the exterior of the ROBOT."

The ends could be interpreted as being "pinch points". A simple guard, of lexan or aluminum sheet, bent into a "U" shape could be slipped over the entire length of the belt and leave you with no worries.

That said, so long as you brought along some material to do so, you could easily whip something like that up on Thursday morning if an inspector expressed concern. I think you're probably okay... but I might have a different opinion if I saw it in person.

Re: Rookie Question

you should be A-OK.

i remember 45 (technokatz) had a similar exposed long run of chain in 08 on their upper ball roller. It passed inspection without issues (not sure if the same rule existed back then though).
