Unhappy Rsl light problems

I have read every forum about the light, and my problem can't be solved by any of them. At first it didn't work at all, we tried rewiring it, we tried different lights, different side cars, and different connectors. Nothing worked. Then we found out that we could turn it on unplug both the light and the connector to the DSC wait a minute and plug them back in and it would work. Though it is not working right. It won't blink or anything. It just stays a solid orange no matter what we are actually doing.

Re: Rsl light problems

What is the small green LED on the Digital Side Car next to the RSL connector doing while the RSL is not working?

Re: Rsl light problems

It is doing the same thing that the RSL light is doing, Staying completely solid. It used to blink before something went wrong with the light, now it does the same thing the light does. It won't turn on untill we do the one minute thing either.

Ps. Thank you for responding

Re: Rsl light problems

Does the green LED behave properly if the RSL is not plugged into the Sidecar? If not it won't matter what you do with the RSL itself you will get the same results.

Is the digital sidecar fully powered (all 3 lights solidly on)? Is the 37 pin cable firmly seated on both the cRIO module and the Digital Sidecar?

Re: Rsl light problems

No the led light next to the RSL light does not turn on unless the light is working.
Yes all three lights are on and the cable is firmly secured.

Ps. Thank you

Re: Rsl light problems

Alright, if the Sidecar is connected properly and the green LED doesn't behave without the RSL connected then there are two potential sources of the problem:

1. The cRIO
2. The Digital Sidecar itself

You have tried different sidecars so have you tried re-imaging the cRIO with the latest (v28) image?

Re: Rsl light problems

If you haven't already, make sure the serial cable is SECURELY connected. If the problem persits, replace the cable. Common methods have already been mentioned.

Re: Rsl light problems

Ok thank you alot, because you suggested to check the cable I did and we found out that the cable is not the problem, the part of the cRio that the cable plugs into is not making a proper connection. Any ideas on how to fix that.

Ps Thank YOU SO MUCH I COULD HUG YOU

Re: Rsl light problems

Do you mean the module? The blue piece with the silver sides that plugs into the CRIO itself? It should be plugged into the CRIO such that both of the metal sides are snapped in and flush with the walls of the CRIO. If they're not, push it in farther (but be careful).

Another thing that might be going wrong is if the module is plugged into the wrong slot. It MUST be plugged into slot 4 (counting from the part of the CRIO with the ethernet porst and such) or else the RSL will not work.

You could also try replacing the module (I believe the CRIO comes with two digital modules).

Did you say that the LED only flashes if the RSL is hooked up? That's bad, but I have no idea how to fix it (bar what's already been said in the thread).

Re: Rsl light problems

It is in slot four, yes it is hooked up right. We are going to try replacing the module. I don't know how to bar what has already been said in the thread. Also Replacing the Module might fix that we will see and I will update this.

Re: Rsl light problems

Use a strong light and good magnifier to check for any debris (especially metallic) in the cRIO's module connectors.

Re: Rsl light problems

Thank you all we have gotten the problem fixed it was a really bad connection between the module and the cRio so we had to switch cRios to get it to work. Thank every team that helped us.
