Old rookie team in San Pedro desperate for programming help

It has been a tough year for our robotics team. Our team captain died this year which was a true blow to our team. We have been struggling with getting our programming done...have come close but no success. We are in need of a skilled programmer to help us. All of our mechanical works, we still have the electronics board, but no real program. We are a rookie team each year despite our 848 team number. We need help. We can make it financially rewarding for a team/individual who helps us to learn since we are good at fundraising. We know some labview and have attempted our programming in that language, but are not married to it . Can someone help us please?

Re: Old rookie team in San Pedro desperate for programming help

Ooh, I would drive over and help you guys, but I really wish I could. I don't have a license or a permit, and I doubt my parents would give me a ride to San Pedro, it is a 45 minute drive from here. Now if you need any help and you are going to SD or LA regional, just contact me. I am a big Korean guy from 589. I would be happy to help you guys. I can only help with C++ or Java though, I have no idea how to do LabView

Chances are at the regional, I will have nothing much to do. We have competent programmers that are more than willing to debug our robot. So I will be free.

Re: Old rookie team in San Pedro desperate for programming help

Did you ship everything?

Did you keep your cRIO?

Have you been able to get wireless access working?

Depending on what you have my suggestion is asking for help via a remote desktop share of your computer. This way someone can do everything remotely to get things configured.

You have three choices on programming labview, c++ or Java. We are a rookie team and once we got through the initial configuration challenges had no problem downloading the example Java program provided by FIRST and make a few config setup changes and you have a robot ready to drive.

Let me know if I can help. If everything has already shipped then your best bet is to get help from a team with a low number at your regional.

848 typically attends L.A., which is a Week 4 event this year.

I've exchanged emails with Bob. They're about 30 minutes away from 330, so I'll go down to help them.

Although San Pedro is nice, you can save yourself the trip and support them remotely using Teamviewer. It's free, and works beautifully. We have been using it this year to support teams in our area. We even helped a rookie team fix their code at the Harvey Mudd scrimmage
