Rookie Teams' Help Needed
Hello,
Team 188 recently purchased a new classmate because of our original classmate's power problems and we're wondering if a rookie team is willing to help us out by uploading the contents of their classmate USB they received in the Kit of Parts. I'd also like to make sure that I'm correct in assuming that we'll need to image the newly purchased classmate with a rookie team's USB. Thank you, Priyank Purohit Head Programmer Team 188 - Woburn Robotics EDIT: You can also reach me via E-Mail - priyankpurohit31@team188.com Last edited by PriyankP : 25-02-2011 at 01:58. |

Re: Rookie Teams' Help Needed
You don't need to image a new Classmate from the KOP stick unless it didn't come with an operating system...
Everything else is available on DVD or as software updates. |

Re: Rookie Teams' Help Needed
If you buy a new Classmate from CTL using the FRC discount code, it does come without an OS installed.

Re: Rookie Teams' Help Needed
I'm guessing you guys purchased a new classmate this year too? How long did FIRST take to give you the new USB? I'm wondering if we'll get the USB somehow before FLR next week.

Re: Rookie Teams' Help Needed
You've had a month and a half to do that. Why did you delay? Alternatively, if it's working as it is, why do you feel you should update it now?
A USB flash drive from the rookie KoP should work perfectly to load up your E11 Classmate. |

Re: Rookie Teams' Help Needed
Technically the only difference between the images are the drivers for the devices of the classmate. You can technically install the veteran image on the new classmate but you have to get the drivers off the classmate website.
This you should know before attempting this if you choose to do so. 1. make sure you have another computer than can access the internet. 2. know the model number of your new classmate. 3. Know where to get the drivers: ftp://ftp.ctlcorp.com/public/NOTEBOOKS/Netbooks/ I hope this helps ![]() |

Also, to those trying to put linux on the new classmates: Good Luck. The only Linux we could get running was Chrome OS due to it's lack of hardware support. (we believe the wireless card hangs the kernel on most installs [tried ubuntu/debian/dslinux]) |

Re: Rookie Teams' Help Needed
As a veteran team, what you received as "this year's USB" is specific to last year's Classmate model, which is an E10. The E10IS your team got is not what CTL sells as the "FIRST Authorized Product". The new Classmate in the 2011 Kit of Parts is an E11, and requires the "2011 rookie USB" image.
