In theory, it'd do great on an alliance with a good tube scorer, but the throws look really easy to defend so who knows.

Anyway, cool robot and kudos for taking the road less traveled.
I would say it would be hard defending against that if they can throw that tube higher and farther than displayed in the video consistently.

Hope to see the design finds prosperity at competition.

Thanks for all the awesome comments!

Good point about brake mode - I am going to bring that up today;

The robot actually throws much higher than the first shot in the youtube video. The reason we had to switch to throwing on the ground was because the tubes were hitting the ceiling which is over 10 feet high.

The robot is designed to not have to leave the lane, so in theory it would be difficult to defend against.

We are looking forward to the regionals this year!

Re: 1875 Robot In Tights

Do you have a fan club I could join?
I was really hoping someone would follow through with this design. Hope it works out for you.

Re: 1875 Robot In Tights

New video coming soon - Version 2.0; we removed the chute and added a rotation to the wrist. We can now take the tubes horizontally from human player; can also place one on lower rack during autonomous mode. We are really excited.

Re: 1875 Robot In Tights

I was hoping I'd see at least one thrower bot I am curious though, from what I saw in the video, I'm assuming the flicking is just a side feature, you don't score that way do you?

In the video, the piece is thrown at an angle which would have the holes entering the scoring zone perpendicular to the pegs. I would love to see a scoring video/hear more about how your gripper/scoring mechanism works!

Actually, our main strategy is to get the game pieces into the 'protected zone' as fast as possible so our alliance partners will have a lot of time to hang them on the pegs.

I hope to have the new video up soon of the improved wrist.

Re: 1875 Robot In Tights

Haha, I can imagine the entire zone being carpeted in gamepices, after you throw three full sets over.

Awesome, makes sense. What's the trajectory like, will it be high enough during it's entire flight path to clear other robots? (Assuming that they aren't lifting or raising their arms? )

I don't know the exact height, however we are hitting the ceiling in the outside canopy that is covering the field. I estimate the ceiling to be at least 10 feet in the air, probably more like 13 feet. Tubes are landing 25 feet away and then typically roll/bounce another 3 or 4 feet.
