BaneBot Gearbox Replacements

Has anyone found any gear boxes that are compatible with the bane bot motors (fit without or with very little modification). We are building a second lifter/griper to practice with and want to have comparable gearboxes so programming isn't changed too much. We would get them from Bane-Bots but there is a 3 week wait still.

The black plastic Fisher Price gearbox and the AndyMark Planetary work great for some of them. All you need is the appropriate pinion gear.

A Globe motor planetary ought to fit too. We never got to the point of modifying the Banebots motor shaft to let the Globe gear press on.

Re: BaneBot Gearbox Replacements

BTW - Assuming you're talking about RS 775 motors and you find you need to bore out some pinions, a #9 drill bit gives a good interference fit.

Re: BaneBot Gearbox Replacements

From personal experience, the 07 globe transmissions will work with the rs-775, provided you do a few small modifications. You will have to ream out the pinion to fit the shaft. We did this on a lathe, but if you have the right size reamer, you could do it on another machine. Also, the plate that the globe motor mounts to, will have to be modified. There are a few small boss on the plate that will interfere with the rs-775. Using a manual mill, these can easily be removed, just take care because the cast aluminum is brittle. After you have done this, the rs-775 mounting holes are on the same pattern as the old globe motors, and you can assemble. Hopefully, you can make it work, we are having the same problem with banebots. Good luck
