Greg McKaskle of National Instruments created a vi (a bit of LabVIEW code) that makes what you want to do very easy. Read his post in this thread. If you have specific questions, we'll be happy to answer them.

Also, if you don't want to follow the line using the trackers, you should delete all the default autonomous code (I'd actually suggest renaming it and making a new vi so you can get it back if you need to), because that default code just follows the line and leaves you to do the arm moving. Of course, it's great if you do want to do some line trackin action.
