Re: Will we see a wall robot?
great strategy for a younger team!
I wonder if they can pull the wings back up, it would be nice to play defense for most the match and then go deploy the minibot. also i'm curious to see if they play defense on a minibot tower too. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
According to other/pictures/videos/descriptions the wings are attached to pneumatic cylinders so they can be deployed and lifted.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
If they get mini-bot deployment up and running, they might be the first rookies to see Einstein since 1902.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
Actually, 3138 and 3357 made it to Einstein in 2010 and 2753 made it to Einstein in 2009. All of those teams were rookies when they won their divisions.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
It's doubtful we'll see a wallbot.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
If you call 3553's robot a wall, then a wall wouldn't necessarily violate this rule. If you watch the youtube video above then you can see that their "wall" is not high enough to obstruct anyone's vision.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
I'd be inclined to call it more of a speedbump.
Seriously, it is a very cool design; I hope they are well utilized in eliminations. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
There is a wall bot so to say out here in kansas city. they are a rookie team sadly we have only played about 15 practice matches here so i never saw them play a match.

. Although it is going against another mecanum bot which probably can't push as well, so it'd be interesting to see how this fared against traction wheels. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
Lets see how they do at Greater Kansas then today and tomorrow. I am pinning hope on Dragonfly to show how critical defense is in Week 2 as well as all weeks.

After watching that video, I'm fairly certain that any team with either a 6-Motor, or 2-speed Traction Drive should be able to push 3528 - especially if there is some momentum behind the hit. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
Yeah, I'm surprised that no teams are just laying down on the endzone line. I feel that laying down in front of the pegs with the most ubertubes would be more disrupting than trying to block both towers. Also you wouldn't have to worry about incurring pentalties as if they pushed you into the endzone, no penalty would occur. and if they pushed you in there, I don't see any rule that you have to make an effort to leave. So if you laid down on the ground and got pushed into the endzone, you very well could be in a better position that previously allowed.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
This is also regarding the view, if you used a net, I think it would still be legal, so long as it didn't obstruct the view.
