Re: Will we see a wall robot?
It's doubtful we'll see a wallbot.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
If you call 3553's robot a wall, then a wall wouldn't necessarily violate this rule. If you watch the youtube video above then you can see that their "wall" is not high enough to obstruct anyone's vision.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
I'd be inclined to call it more of a speedbump.
Seriously, it is a very cool design; I hope they are well utilized in eliminations. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
There is a wall bot so to say out here in kansas city. they are a rookie team sadly we have only played about 15 practice matches here so i never saw them play a match.

. Although it is going against another mecanum bot which probably can't push as well, so it'd be interesting to see how this fared against traction wheels. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
Lets see how they do at Greater Kansas then today and tomorrow. I am pinning hope on Dragonfly to show how critical defense is in Week 2 as well as all weeks.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
3528's going to get pushed out of the way. The increased length of their drive train makes the leverage a pushing team would have on them better. With the omni-ish drive they have going on, they're going to to get spun out of the way I think. They need more traction on the ground for this to work. 3553's robot seems to have more traction on their drive train. 8 friction wheels should do the job as long as those outside wheels stay against the ground and don't come up. They probably have too much friction to turn at that point actually, although if they wait to fold out their sides until they're in position, then they really wouldn't have to turn. And actually once they were in that position they would even be lined up with the poles for the minibot, they could just have their minibot attached to their fold out sides.
All in all I think 3553's design could be a huge 3rd alliance partner to any alliance that has 2 good scoring robots. Imagine them on the alliance at alamo with 16 and 148, although 3553 cant score an ubertube, it wouldn't matter because 148 would score it for them. Then 16 and 148 would score like crazy like they did while 3553 held the other alliance to 0 points. I think Einstein's going to be exciting this year ![]() However, this is just my 2 cents. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
I highly doubt the robot inspectors would allow for a net since it's way too much of a tangle risk with other robots. I can easily see a robot manipulator getting into a hole or even a fold in the net, try to turn, and getting horribly stuck together.

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
I thought I would chime in here considering our robot is being talked about lol
![]() My name is Jordan and I'm one of the Team Captains from Team 3528. As a rookie team this year we wanted something that would be easier to design and control. I think we chose the right path. The KC Regionals just finished up and we did pretty well I think, ontop of being chosen onto a top 8 alliance, we also walked away with the Rookie All Star. Just to let you know a little about our robot: 4 omni wheels and two plaction wheels on each of our wings, we were only able to be pushed around by one team and even then we held them pretty tight. When going up against teams that could put up two full logos when we aren't on the field, we held them to about one. I feel we were very very successful in our rookie year! plus, WE'RE GOING TO ST. LOUIS! Woot woot |

After watching that video, I'm fairly certain that any team with either a 6-Motor, or 2-speed Traction Drive should be able to push 3528 - especially if there is some momentum behind the hit. |

Re: Will we see a wall robot?
Yeah, I'm surprised that no teams are just laying down on the endzone line. I feel that laying down in front of the pegs with the most ubertubes would be more disrupting than trying to block both towers. Also you wouldn't have to worry about incurring pentalties as if they pushed you into the endzone, no penalty would occur. and if they pushed you in there, I don't see any rule that you have to make an effort to leave. So if you laid down on the ground and got pushed into the endzone, you very well could be in a better position that previously allowed.
