Human player scores on the top row at regional

Human player scores on the top row at regional.

You'll love this! Sorry video isn't better but taken from cell phone.

This footage was taken during practice rounds at the Wisconsin Regional. Watch the tubes being thrown by the human player on the top right of the video.

Unfortunately I can not tell you what team it was because they were not part of our alliance.

Enjoy

Re: Human player scores on the top row at regional

This is exactly why human players should not throw tubes! But in all seriousness why would you throw the tubes if you can't even make it past the middle of the field. That just gives your opponent a better chance to pick it up and score in a quicker time.

That's actually a straight RED CARD per G39

Violation: RED CARD.
Human players be careful out there. We don't want Human Players constantly getting tons of penalties and costing matches like most other years.

Does the tube still count, it looks like the tube was a triangle and landed on the left most leg. If the team puts up the corresponding circle (looks like it is already up) and square then do they get a logo bonus?

Re: Human player scores on the top row at regional

At GSR I think a human player managed to get a tube around one of the minibot poles, preventing a team from scoring, but I don't think they got a red card. Perhaps it was that alliance's human player.

I think it is still considered Hanging so it scores. I dont see any rule that makes it not Hanging.

That should be a Red Card by G24, since it inhibits MiniBot climb

The "ringer" in question occurred in GSR Quarterfinals Match 4-1 between 175, 1519, 176(red) and 58, 172, 126 (blue). Video of this match can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/frcteam1519#p/u/6/6FR1aEnhcYA

At approximately 30 seconds into the video, the 176 human player throws a ringer around one of the red towers. No penalty applies since the affected tower was for the same alliance as the human player throwing the tube. At the end of the match, 175 goes to that tower with the intent of releasing their minibot, but is unable to deploy due to the "ringer."

However, if the ringer had been thrown around the opposing alliance's tower, it's not clear to me as to whether this would result in a penalty, as G24 is in the "End Game" section of the rules. If the offending tube is thrown before the "End Game" I don't know which rule would prohibit putting ringers around the other team's towers...

Thanks for the explanation, obviously no card if your own human player does it.

It still should be a Red Card if an opponent rings a tower. It doesn't really matter when the tube is thrown, it still interferes in the end game. G24 applies to any interference.

Hmmm. Human player scoring tubes for the other alliance. Looks like another way to "throw" a match...

At Kettering this past week in qualifications, one human player threw a tube (unintentionally, I believe) that fell onto the nearest tower (in his lane, closest to him) and got stuck at the lexan/sensor at the top. That team got a red card.

Seriously though, that video's kind of amazing. I mean, it's bad that it happened, and I feel bad for the human player, but that's hilarious!

The OP said it was a practice match, so I'm guessing not too much happened.

On the other hand, I don't think his team will let him live it down. We've got a mentor who knows about things like that first hand.
