The Girls of Steel--a real rookie icon!

I would like to extend a special congratulations to Team 3504 Girls of Steel, Rookie All-Star winners at the 2011 Pittsburgh FRC Regional!

These girls are truly a fantastic team on the field and off, with an impressive image, great attitudes, and a very competitive first year robot that won them an alliance invitation in the finals. A friend and I spent a great deal of the weekend spending time with this team, dancing in the stands and helping out where we could. We both agreed that, once back in our hometown, we were going shopping so we could sport their trademark spotted bandannas, too!

As it was said in their award introduction, these girls are bound to become just as iconic as their prestigious mascot, Rosie the Riveter. Team 2614 MARS hopes to keep seeing these guys around--have fun in St. Louis, and we hope this is just the beginning of a fantastic FIRST friendship!

Aw, thank you! We had so much fun at our first regional. We were nervous and excited about the competition -- your team was a great example of gracious professionalism and coopertition. We're looking forward to an awesome FIRST friendship with MARS too!
