Will we see a perfect score?

I'm curious after watching the SD finals, if anyone else thinks there's a chance we may see a perfect score this year.

3 ubertubes on the top row in autonomous.
full racks of logos
2 winning minibots.

This is one of the only year's I can think of where there was a perfect score that was attainable.

Re: Will we see a perfect score?

I think it's possible, but the alliance would need to have great robots and human players. And the other alliance would have to go all offense too, because one defensive robot would probably be able to prevent a perfect score. I don't like the odds, but I'd love to see it.

Re: Will we see a perfect score?

I think a perfect score of 158 would be attainable this year. Especially as we enter the Nationals next month in St. Louis where there will be so many amazing teams. If we are seeing scores of 115 at local regionals, I can only imagine what scores will be put up during St. Louis. (:

Re: Will we see a perfect score?

One thing I noticed in San Diego, 254/987 were good at hanging on the top and middle rows, but they really struggled to hang on the lower rows.

If we are going to see a perfect score, I suspect it will be from a couple of lift type mechanisms rather than arm mechanisms.

I think we'll see a perfect score during at least one Championship Match. I think that's the only place you'll see 3 teams capable of scoring that many points in 2 minutes. (Excluding IRI)

We have an arm, and can score on the bottom row without any problems at all... Just sayin'.

Our robot also has an arm, and our drivers filled up one side of the rack by themselves all but 1 tube on the bottom row. If they hadnt lost comms, they would have filled up that side and started on the other side. We set the national record for most tubes scored in a match by a single robot with 9(1 in auto and 8 in tele-op) in that match.

You will see a perfect score with 2 great teams working together. You do not need 3 teams.

I think scoring on the bottom row is more an issue for the drivers than the mechanisms themselves. many teams trained on the top 2... the bottom row seemed to create problems in the SD final match 1

Also note the top qualifying score so far has been 122 points and and second highest was 120.
( FIRST 217 was on both teams ) both of these happened at ROC
note that their alliance score 50 race points in both of those matches.

However we do have to remember how little that bottom row is worth. I'm not sure what caused the missing 36 points from perfect score, but I think putting the 2 best teams from 2 different regionals, will certainly create unique opportunities.

I guess a second question will follow

WILL WE SEE A FULL GRID OF LOGOS IN COMPETITION?

Re: Will we see a perfect score?

I'm leaning towards "No". I have seen many robots that could probably fill 9/18 scoring pegs by themselves with no defense and well-thrown tubes, and many of these also have fast minibots. Put two together with a third bot to push tubes and/or stay out of the way and in theory you could see a perfect score. (Three scoring bots is a crowd this year)

However, once the top and middle rows are ubertubed and full, will these teams really try and fill up the bottom row? Or will they take the extra time to make absolutely, positively sure that their minibot deployment is going to go off without a hitch? I would sacrifice an entire bottom row logo (6 points) just to help hedge the 5-10% chance that I have issues getting my minibot to the tower...

I agree because 1114 was able to put up i think 3 logos, 2 ubertubes and a 1st place minibot in one match at pittsburgh.

Re: Will we see a perfect score?

18 Teleop tubes, 3 top row ubertubes, First and Second place minibots. A tall order? Yes. Possible? Yes.

If anywhere, we're going to see it in later regionals, or at the very latest Einstein. I predict we will see it, but it will most certainly be during elims, and probably from teams who appeared at more than one regional.

If we see it, it'll be a very lucky teaming up of good teams in a qm, at MSC, STL, or IRI.

Re: Will we see a perfect score?

Actually, a perfect score is technically 194... You just have to be fortunate enough to have opponents that herd you their ubertubes across the centerline during autonomous so that each of your alliance's bots can score two ubertubes.

Now that will never happen..
