Thoughts going out to our Hawaiian and West Coast teams!!! Please look after yourselves and your families! I am hoping the tsunami is not as serious as they think it might be.

Here in Oregon the waves hit around 8 AM, I understand they were visible but I haven't heard of any damage. I understand California had some coastal damage [Crescent City] but no injuries thankfully.

With equinox/spring tides/falling next week, hopefully 'the big one' won't hit either the Seattle or Autodesk Oregon regionals...

We're fine here on Kauai. (There was a bit of damage, as I understand it, on Maui and/or the Big Island, but fortunately, not much. Much more worried about what's going on in Japan!)

But we're also a bit frustrated this morning - TRYING to watch the San Diego regional and not getting anywhere!! Maybe the 'net is packed due to the earthquake/tsunami, or is there some problem with the feed? Anyone know a good way to watch the SD regional? (Most of the regionals are over before we're up and had our coffee - or it seems that way anyway. Finally one we could watch, and it is just coming through in dribs and drabs, really slowly.)

I feel your pain on the webcast frustration. MMRambotics has a nice page here, with webcasts from all regionals at the same time, but my team is unable to watch most of them ['missing plugin' error] and the San Diego regional doesn't seem to be working properly.

Here is another webcast....I'm going to try that one as soon as I get to school, my home internet is hideously slow. I'll post again if I get one working! Which regional are y'all attending?

What 987 seems to be trying to do was to record matches as they happen, and post them immediately after to let viewers to replay them if they want. Unfortunately this is not working, hopefully they can just get a regular stream up and running like the other regionals that are being webcasted.

The West coast should be in pretty good shape. A good gauge of coming weather in a coastal city, is "What is the Navy doing?"

If you see Navy ships in port, you're going to be fine. If you see ships pulling out, or no ships at all, go East. Fast.

Washington coast... predicts maybe about a 2 foot increase..
In Puget sound it should be even less... I didn't notice anything actually when they said it hit... went down to the beach later..

Pretty windy anyway... so waves are waves...

I am so glad it didn't amount to much for everyone here! However the situation in Japan is really sad and scary! I've experienced a pathetic little 3.1 tremor a few years back that scared me to death! I can't even begin to imagine how scary it is in Japan, especially with all the aftershocks!

I wonder what we in the FIRST community could do for everyone in Japan?

Wendy, I heard the piggy bank announcement over the web cast! Bring your piggy bank to Palmetto! I'll be attending Peachtree this weekend and I will make sure we get a collection jar going. I will also see to it at North Carolina.

Everyone else, make sure there is a piggy bank at your regional for donations for the Red Cross.

Let's all give money in honor of all the FLL teams in Japan!

Just so everyone knows, as of yesterday the Japanese Red Cross hadn't actually asked the American Red Cross for assistance. So any money donated may or may not go to Japan, though the Red Cross is certainly still a good cause to support.

We didn't get hit very hard here on the west coast. A few docks got their boats destroyed, but that's the most damage. The problem is that in some places on the coasts, some of those boats are fishing boats that people use to feed their families. Unfortunatly, I also heard that someone got pulled under who was trying to videotape the tsunami as it was coming in. As far as I can tell, that's all the bad things that happened here. Not nearly as bad as Japan have it, but sad either way.

If the Red Cross may or may not be working with Japan, any ideas on organizations who are? This is something our teams is looking to pick up since our school supplies to Afghanistan program is coming to an end with our contact's deployment coming to a close.
